Department Manager – Fire Safety, Security & Audiovisual

Equans is recruiting a Department Manager for the Fire Safety, Security & Audiovisual department in the division Transversal Integrated Solutions.

You will have full P/L responsibility for the Fire Safety, Security & Audiovisual department in Belgium with locations in Aartselaar, Braine L’Alleud, Brucargo (Vilvoorde) and Muizen (Mechelen).

• you detect the training/recruitment needs and initiate these with HR
• you detect opportunities in the market and develop and strengthen the department’s position in the market
• you supervise the commercial activities, support the development of contacts with potential customers and align commercial activities with the strategy
• you have final responsibility for financial and economic reporting
• you are responsible for optimizing the profitability of your department
• you detect deviations from the budgeted costs, turnover and results and initiate and follow up on corrective actions
• you decide on the tenders to be followed and set the course and conditions during major contract negotiations
• you are ultimately responsible for all execution activities, you decide on or validate the actions undertaken
• you report directly to the Division Manager

What do you need?

• you have a master in engineering, preferably in an electrical or electronical field: electromechanics, energy, electricity, etc. and at least 10 years’ relevant experience in the field of technology, project management and team management
• you have experience in the Belgian market within the field of fire safety, security & audiovisual techniques
• you have experience with change management
• you ideally have good knowledge of the technical market with regard to fire safety, security & audiovisual applications
• you are an experienced people manager and able to motivate others
• you have a great affinity with digitalization and automation
• you have a good financial overview and make the necessary reports
• you are good at sales and negotiations
• you are strong in optimizing and, where necessary, changing processes and getting your team on board with this
• you are a team player
• you are performance and result oriented
• a good level in French-Dutch & English is required

The Fire Safety, Security & Audiovisual department of Equans specializes in audiovisual total projects, high-tech building security, technical monitoring of industrial installations, integrated fire prevention, anti-theft, camera surveillance and access control systems. We bring all these techniques together in one open building management system.

• > 60 mio turnover/year
• > 250 employees: mix of blue collars, white collars and exempts
• contacts with national clients, companies, subcontractors and suppliers
• you will be responsible for projects in the areas of both fire detection, security and audiovisual
• to carry out the various assignments, the department consists of the following sections: 
  • Fire Safety at Brucargo (Vilvoorde)
  • Security & Audiovisual Aartselaar
  • Security & Audiovisual Braine
  • PortEyes NV/SA – separate company for activities of control room, located in Muizen (Mechelen)
