Electrical Engineer (Offshore Wind)

For the Offshore division in Hoboken Equans is looking for an Electrical Engineer.
You will work in multi-disciplinary project teams and are responsible for the engineering activities related to the different systems of your specialty (expertise).
Your mission?
- processes, systems and tools:
- work in compliance with guidelines, work processes and methods as determined within the discipline
- as a critical thinker with respect for existing guidelines, work processes and methods you deliver suggestions for possible improvements
- systems engineering:
- analyze and evaluate the applicable requirements, codes and standards
- translate and develop them into a substantiated system design, in compliance with current knowledge and latest technology
- outline technical specifications for systems and equipment, functional specifications together with partners where appropriate. For the systems that are procured, guide and follow-up the respective suppliers to guarantee high quality of engineering
- lead the engineering activities for the allocated systems and monitor quality, assess input from the Engineering team, partners, system suppliers or component vendors
- issue technical queries to the client if needed and handle incoming technical queries. Ensure timely responses and resolution
- create test protocols based on predefined methods and standards
- prepare the operations & maintenance manuals to be delivered to customers. Incorporate appropriate maintenance engineering in the design and provide support to the in-house Monitoring & Maintenance department
- provide support towards Construction & Commissioning: definition of procedures, tools & systems to organize the works for the construction of the products to be delivered
- communication:
- provide information and communicate about the status and progress of the work to enable the Lead Electrical Engineer and the Project Engineering Manager to take decisions accordingly
- guarantee transparent communication channels and clear appointments with regard to cooperation within the team and with the stakeholders
- internal stakeholders: e.g. Lead Electrical Engineer, Project Engineering Manager, other disciplines, project team
- external stakeholders: e.g. suppliers (of systems, tools, services) and clients if requested by the Project Engineering Manager
- internal contacts: other disciplines, project teams, Equans Offshore departments and other divisions within Equans
- external contacts: suppliers, clients, joint-venture partners
What do you need?
- university level degree, master of science in engineering (electrical/electromechanical)
- minimum 2-3 years of relevant work experience within offshore, renewables or substations
- experience with any of the following specific systems:
- LV distribution
- UPS and battery systems
- generators
- lighting systems
- power outlets
- earthing, bonding and lightning
- cables (power and data), connectors and glands
- fiber optics
- telecom and radio systems
- experience with certification (e.g. DNV, BSH,…) is an advantage
- experience with AutoCad and Eplan software is an advantage
- experience with Caneco software is an advantage
- expertise in one or more systems related to the electrical engineering discipline or willing to acquire the expertise
- knowledge of DNVGL-ST-145 and DNVGL-OS-D201 is an advantage
- knowledge of IEC 60364, IEC 61439 and IEC 61892 is an advantage
- advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint
- good analytical skills
- you are able to structure and prioritize your own work and can work under set time frame
- you have strong communication skills and leadership capabilities in managing vendors and partners
- you are able to manage good relationships with the project management team, the client and our partners while monitoring Equans’ interests. You are a team player and have a pragmatic and pro-active approach
- it is possible that short missions abroad could apply for meetings with vendors or clients
- professional working knowledge of English, Dutch is an advantage. Knowledge of French and/or German is an added value
