Equans is looking for a Package Manager (Offshore Wind). In this role you are active in the Offshore division in Hoboken.

In the context of substation projects within the Offshore division, you are responsible for the delivery of a package of systems. You manage scope, time, budget, quality, safety, risk and interfaces during the complete project lifecycle.

You functionally report to the Project Manager. For the systems in the package you ensure the smooth delivery of the complete scope by the suppliers and team members involved.

Your mission?

  • reporting and communication:
    • issue a regular progress report to the Project Manager highlighting documentation status, issues, risks and delays
    • hold weekly commercial meetings with the Project Manager and Cost Controller to ensure all variations are captured and issued to the client
  • scope management :
    • manage scope, deliverables and milestones in line with the overall project requirements and objectives
    • monitor the lifecycle of Technical Queries ensuring timely responses and resolution
    • ensure that freeze dates are respected and after a freeze the change management process is followed
  • time management:
    • continuously ensure that package is progressing in accordance with the time schedule and that milestones are met
    • be in close contact with suppliers in a proactive way and follow up on their deliverables including document (re)submissions until acceptance. If there are delays, make the supplier commit on a recovery plan
    • if suppliers need to perform works on site ensure the timely submission of permit package and that the employees they are sending have the necessary qualifications and are registered timely
  • contract management and procurement:
    • organize the preparation of RFQs, the evaluation of offers, contract negotiations and signing in cooperation with the Procurement team
    • you are responsible for the smooth interaction between the project and suppliers: guarantee responsiveness, progress and good cooperation from the two sides. If necessary send early warnings and notices of defaults or defects in cooperation with the Contract Manager
  • cost management:
    • continuously control the package budget in cooperation with the Project Manager, Cost Controller and system engineers
    • negotiate and ensure smooth handling of variation orders
  • risk management:
    • identify risks related to the system or supplier, define and continuously follow up the mitigation plan with the supplier, System Engineer and other team members
  • quality management:
    • work with the Quality Manager to develop and follow up the quality management plan and system inspection and test plan (ITP)
    • follow up on timely resolution of punches. Punches can only be closed after approval of the related Equans team members. FAT equipment may only be shipped punch-free, exceptions must be explicitly approved by the responsible System Engineer, the Quality Manager and Project Manager. MC punches must be solved before HAT and HAT punches must be solved before sail-away
    • review of key deliverables – ensure that review procedure is followed
    • collect lessons learned and ensure implementation of company/division procedures, templates and standards
  • HSE:
    • work with the HSE Manager and supplier to ensure works are performed in accordance with the HSE plan
    • in case of incidents involve the supplier and ensure any resulting actions are picked up adequately
  • internal contacts: project team, Equans Offshore departments and other divisions within Equans
  • external contacts: suppliers, clients and partners

Do you possess the following qualifications & skills?

  • university level degree, master of science in engineering (mechanical/electrical/electromechanical)
  • minimum 5 years of relevant work experience within offshore, renewables or substations
  • demonstrated experience with budgets, scheduling and risk evaluation is a plus
  • knowledge of and experience in the offshore wind industry is desired
  • project management certification is strongly preferred
  • demonstrated ability to manage multiple suppliers simultaneously
  • demonstrated ability to manage people from all types of fields of expertise
  • knowledge of cost control philosophy, estimating and change management procedures required
  • advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Visio
  • good knowledge of and experience with MS Project, Primavera
  • good analytical skills
  • you are able to structure and prioritize your own work and can work under set time frame 
  • strong communication skills
  • you are able to manage good relationships with the project management team, the client and our partners while monitoring Equans’ interests. You are a team player and have a pragmatic and pro-active approach
  • leadership capabilities and experience in managing vendors and partners
  • it is possible that short missions abroad could apply for meetings with vendors or clients
  • professional working knowledge of English, Dutch is an advantage. Knowledge of French and/or German is an added value
