Engineering Manager (Offshore Wind)

Equans is looking for an Engineering Manager (Offshore Wind) for Hoboken.

In the context of the Offshore Services division strategy and within the set framework, the Project Engineering Manager plans, organizes, leads, coordinates and controls:

• design & engineering activities for EPCI and/or monitoring & maintenance projects
• engineering resources allocated to a project

In this role you work in close coordination with the Project Manager and the team leads within the project.

The role can be filled in specifically for the Equans EPCI scope but in some occasions you can also represent the Joint Venture in the role of Project Engineering Manager. In that context, also an overview on the steel related part is to be kept.

What does this job consist of?

• leading of the team:
  • you organize, lead, coordinate & control a centralized Engineering team around key discipline engineers for the LV & Auxiliary scope (mechanical & electrical lead engineers), automation, 3D design, transport & installation
  • in case of a role as Joint Venture Engineering Manager, the coordination and interaction also applies to the other Joint Venture partners
• project management:
  • accountable for the organization of engineering efforts requested for the delivery of products
  • prepare integrated concept designs, outline specifications, technical specifications for systems and equipment, functional specifications together with partners where appropriate
  • translate the client’s and statutory requirements in appropriate technical documents (Request For Proposal – Technical part) to be used by the Procurement team to obtain “best in class” conditions (at bidding phase and execution phase) according to customers’ expectations and for their execution in compliance with the estimate
  • lead the engineering activities for the allocated project and monitor quality, assess input from your own Engineering team, partners, suppliers and subcontractors
  • prepare the operations & maintenance manuals to be delivered to customers
  • incorporate appropriate maintenance Engineering in the design and provide support to the in-house Monitoring & Maintenance department
  • provide support towards Construction & Commissioning: definition of procedures, tools & systems to organize the works for the construction of the products to be delivered (resources, tools, quality, H&S,…) – improve efficiency thanks to lessons learned (“learning team”)
• internal contacts: other departments
• external contacts: suppliers, clients, subcontractors

Are we a match?

• university level degree, master of science in engineering (mechanical/electrical/electromechanical)
• excellent knowledge of and minimum 5 years of experience in engineering, procurement & construction activities (in the field of your specialty/expertise) related to offshore substations
• leadership capabilities and experience in supervising an engineering team in an international context  
• able to structure and prioritize your own work
• able to work under set time frame 
• able to manage good relationships with project management team, the client and our partners while monitoring Equans’ and/or Joint Venture’s interests
• it is possible that short missions abroad could apply for meetings with clients or vendors
• communication skills: English/Dutch. Knowledge of French and/or German is an added value
