In this role, you guide engineers through ambitious thermal and industrial challenges while developing tools and ways of working that make a real difference. You grow your expertise, influence the technical direction of major projects and collaborate closely with colleagues across Equans.

Your work location: fixed site or project scope depending on assignment
Your Equans base: Fleurus (Charleroi), Grimbergen (Brussels) or Ans (Liège)

Zoom on the job:

• ensure the quality and efficiency of engineering deliverables in tenders and projects
• harmonise and synchronise collaboration between different engineering disciplines
• manage a team of engineers through people management, team development and resource planning
• continuously improve engineering practices, tools, procedures and internal standards
• guide the team towards more integrated and AI‑driven engineering methods
• support commercial efforts by representing the department to customers and promoting smart technical solutions
• contribute to contractual aspects by ensuring specifications and performance criteria are achievable and clearly defined
• analyse complex tender requests, define a game plan and allocate the right resources to achieve high‑quality results with minimal cost
• lead large teams of design engineers, motivate them and define a shared vision
• ensure all health and safety aspects are integrated into engineering work and continuously improved
• convince customers of the added value delivered by Equans solutions
• guarantee respect of the allocated budget

Come as you are, ideally with:

• a master’s degree in engineering
• experience of 5+ years in thermal processes (in Waste‑to‑Energy is an advantage)
• experience of 10+ years working in a project‑driven ( industrial environment is preferred)
• experience in EPC projects
• broad multi‑technical knowledge (civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation, thermal design including heat exchange or Rankine cycles, etc.)
• solid understanding of QA, ISO 9001 and CE certification
• understanding of public procurement processes in Belgium and France
• good knowledge of contemporary management methods, tools and reporting
• financial insight related to projects and cost centers
• strong contractual awareness and risk‑management skills
• passion for innovative technical solutions in the energy sector and motivation to implement them in industrial projects
• strong interest in engineering and digital tools
• strong client orientation and results‑driven mindset
• a solution‑oriented attitude and the ability to manage stress
• people‑management experience and proven leadership skills
• flexibility, motivation and enthusiasm
• strong communication skills and team spirit
• excellent planning and organisational skills
• willingness to go the extra mile when needed
• good level of French, Dutch and English

Sustainable Energetic Solutions” (SES)…

…is a department of Equans Belux delivering EPC projects (0,5M€ to 50 M€) in the industrial renewable energy sector.

SES acts mainly as an integrator offering “Design & Build” projects to its industrial customers aiming to de-carbonize their production. The pivotal element is “Engineering Solutions (ES)” a section at the heart of the department which takes care of the engineering tasks. The core competences of ES are:

• thermal design (P&IDs; H&Ms; PFDs; data sheets)
• mechanical and piping design  (PED)
• electrical & Instrumentation basic design
• 3D modeling of multi technical projects
• integration of different technologies (heat exchangers; ORCs; turbine; condenser; pumps; compressors; demineralization plants; cooling; batteries; etc)

SES is mainly active the “Waste-to-Energy” and “industrial” sector; battery parks; district heating and venturing into new areas such as Carbon Capture and Utilization; Electric boilers; heat storage; hydrogen, etc to continue fostering the energy transition.
