Business Controller

What if you could analyse, challenge and guide the financial performance of a strategic division within Equans? 

You monitor results, cash, projects and the order book, and you bring an independent and concrete perspective to the teams. You work at the heart of multi‑technical infrastructures and help the Networks division improve processes, margins and overall performance.

Your work location: on the sites of the Networks division (Braine, Wetteren, Houthalen, Fleurus, Haren)

What will you do?

• discuss and challenge the monthly results with the project managers
• monitor the performance of contracts/projects and understand their evolution
• support managers in improving margins and results
• ensure correct and timely recognition of billing and margins
• challenge the entry of orders and check consistency with the pricing policy
• regularly review the final project estimates and the backlog
• analyse and challenge the budgets prepared by managers
• propose actions to improve financial performance and optimise processes
• contribute to financial questions and internal innovation proposals
• work directly with the Division Manager and the Finance team
• at least one day per week working in Braine-l’Alleud and regularly traveling to the other sites

Do you see a match with your strengths?

• a master’s degree in economics or finance
• at least 10 years of experience in a similar financial role
• experience in a Big 4 firm (asset)
• knowledge of the multi‑technical, energy or construction sector (asset)
• knowledge of accounting principles linked to contracts/projects
• solid economic and financial skills (including IFRS, financial analysis)
• strong command of Office 365, especially Excel
• knowledge of SAP or another ERP system (asset)
• command of reporting tools such as Analysis for Office or Power BI (asset)
• ability to analyse in detail and produce clear summaries
• an analytical, curious and solution‑oriented mindset, with clear oral and written communication
• ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with teams
• excellent command of Dutch and a good knowledge of French

About us

The Networks division of Equans specialises in the design, installation and maintenance of network infrastructures for energy distribution, public services and telecom services. We offer our services across three main activities:

• electricity networks: installation of power lines and more than seventy years of experience working with transmission and distribution network operators, major industrial companies and electricity producers
• telecom networks: support for telecom operators, remote‑distribution companies and large enterprises in the installation and management of their internal or external networks
• water and gas networks: complete services for the study and installation of pipelines for water and gas distribution
